Ambassador to Beijing visits Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On 28 May 2012, H.E.Mr.Wiboon Khusakul, Ambassador to Beijing and Miss Suphatra Srimaitreephithak, Consul-General to Guangzhou, visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies-GUFS) in Guangzhou, China.

Ambassador Wiboon and Consul-General Suphatra visited the Thai Cultural Center, gave a talk and exchanged views with more than seventy Chinese students in the faculty of Thai Language and Thai students who currently study in the GUFS. Later, the Ambassador met with Mr.Sui Guangjun, Chinese Communist Party Secretary-General to the GUFS. Mr.Fang Fanquan, Deputy Dean of the University also attended the meeting.

During his visit, Ambassador Wiboon expressed that he intended to visit GUFS campus first as part of his tour to different universities all over China with Thai language or Thai studies curriculum. His visit was meant as moral support and gratitude to the institution for training graduates, many of which now work in important agencies, both Thai and Chinese. Ambassodor Wiboon wished that his visit reassured the University of the Royal Thai Embassy in Beijing and the Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou’s support of fostering students of Thai studies and advocated the existence of the Thai Cultural Center on campus to promote Thai-Sino cultural relation.
