On 29 June 2012 at 18:30, H.E. Mr. Wiboon Khusakul, Thai Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, hosted a dinner reception at his residence for Thai students who are currently studying in China on scholarships. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Civil Service Commission also attended the said reception.
Thai students present at this event have been awarded the Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s scholarships, Thai Government Scholarships, Chinese Government Scholarships, respectively. In his remarks to the students, he emphasized the growing importance of the Chinese language. At the same time, the Ambassador stressed that English should not in anyway be overlooked as fluency in both languages will certainly be beneficial to their career paths as well as paving the way for future success. The Ambassador also presented a book “走近诗琳通公主”-“Zŏu Jìn Shì lín tóng gōng zhŭ” or “Getting close to H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn”), which was co-written by 12 Chinese teachers who were inspired by their teaching experiences with H.R.H. Chinese language for the past 30 years.
