- Temporary suspension of Visa on Arrival (VOA) and 30 day – Visa Exemption scheme:
– The VOA Scheme will be suspended from 13 March to 30 September 2020. Ordinary passport holders of countries/territory namely the People’s Republic of China, Bulgaria, Bhutan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Malta, Mexico, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Vanuatu and Taiwan are now required to apply for appropriate visa to enter Thailand through the Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates – General where they have their permanent residencies.
– The Visa Exemption scheme for holders of Italian passport / travel document will be suspended from 13 March to 30 September 2020.
– Holders of passport / travel document of the Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR are permitted to enter into the Kingdom of Thailand without a visa based on terms and conditions stipulated in the bilateral agreements
– Visa is not required for the passenger who transits the Kingdom of Thailand for less than 12 hours and does not leave the port of arrival.
- Visa application:
From 23 March 2020 onwards, all visa applications through the Royal Thai Embassy and Consulates-General in China are required to submit additional documents:
For Ordinary Passport holders:
(1) Health Certificate certifying that the applicant is currently not infected by COVID-19,
(2) Health Insurance with compensation’s payment insured of no less than USD 100,000.
For Diplomatic and Official Passport, and UN Laissez-Passer holders:
(1) Medical (Fit-to-Fly) Certificate
(2) Certifying Letter certifying that medical expenses will be covered by the relevant government or UN Agency.
Remarks: All said documents must be in English. Documents in other languages must be translated into English or Thai and be certified by local legalization processes prior to submission for visa applications.
- Important measures after arriving in the Kingdom of Thailand:
With respect to the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health of the Kingdom of Thailand dated 6 March 2020, all nationals travelling to the Kingdom of Thailand from the People’s Republic of China, including Macau SAR and Hong Kong SAR, will be subjected to the following measures:
(1) Travelers with relevant symptoms will have to undergo mandatory quarantine measures at the airport upon arrival in the Kingdom of Thailand;
(2) Travelers without symptoms must undergo self-quarantine at their accommodation for a period of no less than 14 days without leaving until the end of the infectious period or reasonable suspicion. Travelers must record his or her own symptoms in the reporting system and strictly monitor his or her symptoms as required by the Ministry of Public Health.
